San Antonio, TX-based Epic Midstream Holdings LP said on Wednesday that its 700-mile pipeline has started its third and final construction phase for taking natural gas liquids (NGL) from the Permian Basin to the Texas Gulf Coast. It is slated to be in service late next year.

A 205-mile segment making up the second phase was recently completed and put into service. NGLs are now flowing from DLK Black River Midstream in New Mexico to Benedum, TX.

Covering the remaining route from Benedum to Corpus Christi and the Gulf, the third construction phase will bring the Epic NGL line to its full 440,000 b/d capacity. The line is scalable by another 150,000 b/d. The finished pipeline will have multiple origin points in the Permian’s Delaware and Midland sub-basins of New Mexico and Texas.

Epic has agreements anchoring the NGL pipeline, linking it to Permian NGL reserves, the Eagle Ford Shale, Gulf refineries, petrochemical companies and export markets.

In addition, the company has now signed a deal with Houston-based Optimized Process Designs LLC for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for building Epic’s first 100,000 b/d fractionation train in Robstown, TX, near Corpus Christi.

Epic’s NGL line is being built along the same route that its crude oil pipeline from the Permian to the Gulf will follow.

Epic Pipeline Co. LLC is offering capacity in the proposed crude oil and condensate pipeline that consists of 730 miles of 16-, 20-, 24- and 30-inch diameter pipe with capacity to deliver up to 440,000 b/d. Last year Epic held an open season for the first 200,000 b/d of capacity with a potential second open season that could offer terms different from the first.

The project would include at least four receipt points for crude oil and condensate in Texas including Orla, Pecos, Crane and Midland in Texas. Crude oil delivery points would include connectivity to an Epic affiliate’s marine terminal on the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor as well as additional destinations in the Taft, TX, and Corpus Christi area. The pipeline could be operational during the first quarter of 2019.
