ChevronTexaco Corp. reshuffled its executive management team on Thursday and said it will move Vice Chairman Peter Robertson into the Office of the Chairman with Dave O’Reilly on Jan. 1. In a statement, Chevron said that Robertson and O’Reilly “will collaborate closely in overseeing the strategies and operations of the company.”

Robertson, who has worked for Chevron since 1973, will assume direct responsibility for Strategic Planning, Policy, Government and Public Affairs and Human Resources, and will take on additional responsibilities associated with key commercial and government relationships, said the company.

“Having Peter join me in this new role will allow both of us more time to focus on future opportunities for the company, as well as leverage the strength of our leadership team,” said O’Reilly.

In January 2002, Robertson was elected a director, and for the past few years, he has been responsible for directing worldwide exploration, production and global gas business. Previously, he was corporate vice president and president, Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc. In 1997, Robertson was elected president, Chevron U.S.A. Production Co., where he was responsible for North American exploration and production.

O’Reilly was elected vice chairman of Chevron Corp. in Nov. 1998, and he became chairman when Chevron and Texaco Corp. merged in Oct. 2001.

George Kirkland has been appointed executive vice president, Upstream, and he will assume responsibility for managing global exploration, production and gas activities. Replacing Kirkland as vice president, ChevronTexaco Overseas Petroleum, is current CFO John Watson. He will become responsible for managing all exploration and production activities outside of North America.

The new CFO is Steve Crowe, current comptroller. In his new role, Crowe will be responsible for the finance function worldwide, including comptroller, audit, treasury, tax and investor relations activities. Mark Humphrey will take over as comptroller to manage corporate-wide accounting, financial reporting and analysis, controls and actuarial functions. Humphrey is currently general manager of ChevronTexaco’s Financial Services Center.
