TXU Energy Services signed a 10-year multi-million dollaragreement with Aperian Inc. to own, operate and maintain themechanical and electrical energy equipment at Aperian’s fiveInternet data centers, located in Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Phoenixand Tampa. The contract also includes all future phases ofexpansion.

Aperian’s data centers access bandwidth at the source by beingplaced directly on top of Genuity and UUNet Tier-1 Internetbackbones. The company manages the physical environment andprovides support services to keep its customers’ Web sites up andservers operational. TXU Energy Services under the contract willprovide Aperian with energy, manage energy use and own and maintainthe equipment on a day-to-day basis.

TXU will remotely monitor Aperian’s energy assets such ascomputer air conditioning units, UPS systems, backup generators,electrical distribution panels, power distribution units and DCpower systems.

“Our customers won’t tolerate any downtime, and neither willwe,” said Wayne Irwin, president of Aperian. “By contracting withTXU Energy Services, we can focus on our customers and let TXUprovide the reliable energy management our Web-hosting facilitiesneed.”

The Aperian contract follows a similar TXU deal announcedearlier in the month. The company reportedly signed a three-year,$100 million-plus comprehensive energy management contract withBass Hotels & Resorts, a subsidiary of Bass PLC, to providenatural gas, electric and risk management services for 118 hotels.
