Shell Energy Services Co. LLC, the third largest natural gas marketer in Georgia, hopes to extend its success in the residential arena to the large commercial and industrial market in the state with several new product offerings and a new website, www.shellenergyconnect.com.

Features of the expanded natural gas program include combinations of supply, competitively priced transportation and distribution services, risk management tools and utilization and energy management services. All of the services will be offered through the website, said the company, and the site will allow users to access information, track the status of their accounts and make online transactions.

“Despite the fact that many of these users have been buying their natural gas from suppliers other than the local utility for many years, our website provides the first opportunity for buyers to transact this business online,” said Steve Poley, Shell Energy vice president of marketing.

Users can register at the website, or call (877) 294-0032 for information. Customers who register have to download and execute agreements and credit documents to conduct transactions.

Shell Energy first entered the retail gas and power marketplace in Georgia on the heels of the unbundling Atlanta Gas Light system in March 1998 (see NGI, March 23, 1998). Its presence in the wholesale gas and power markets was established by Coral Energy, which continues to be the company’s wholesale marketer.
