Duke/Fluor Daniel said it has been awarded a turnkey contract by
Panda Paris Power LP, to provide engineering, procurement,
construction and start-up services for a proposed 1,000 MW
gas-fired power plant in Paris, TX. "Power from the plant will be
distributed through TU Electric and will be sold to members of the
Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the Southwest Power
Pool (SPP) and other users," said a spokesman for Dallas-based
Panda Energy, parent company of Panda Paris Power. Commercial
operation of the combined cycle power plant is scheduled for summer
2000. Construction will begin next March.
In response to a request from a broad industry coalition FERC
has extended the deadline for comments on its Notice of Proposed
Rulemaking (RM98-10-000), its Notice of Inquiry (RM98-12) and a
related New York Public Service Commission petition for rulemaking
(RM98-11) until Jan. 22, 1999. Industry representatives said they
would be unable to deal with the vast number of complex issues that
could change the way of doing business on interstate pipelines.
