The Coastal Corp. said Herbert W. Cole was elected vice
president, accounting policy and operational compliance, of Coastal
Oil & Gas. Cole will be responsible for regulatory accounting,
contract compliance and special projects for Coastal's exploration
and production (E&P) business. Cole joined Coastal in 1984 and
has served as assistant controller, budgeting and financial
accounting of Coastal Oil & Gas since 1995.
Enron Oil & Gas Co. (EOG) said Mark G. Papa was elected
president and CEO of the company and Forrest E. Hoglund, formerly
EOG chairman and CEO, would retain his position as chairman for a
year in anticipation of his planned retirement in September 1999.
Additionally, Papa was elected to the company's Board of Directors
along with John H. Duncan and Richard A. Causey.
