DCP Midstream Partners LP’s Discovery offshore and Wyoming gas gathering systems have both been returned to full service, the partnership said Monday.

The Gulf of Mexico (GOM) offshore gathering system was damaged during Hurricane Ike in September when an 18-inch diameter lateral was severed from its connection to the 30-inch diameter mainline in 250 feet of water. The mainline was repaired and returned to service in January (see Daily GPI, Jan. 22). With the recent completion of repairs on the lateral, Discovery’s offshore system is now fully operational and flowing approximately 400 MMcf/d through the onshore Larose gas processing plant, the partnership said.

DCP owns 40% of Discovery, which includes the offshore gathering system, as well as the Larose plant and Paradis fractionation facility. Williams operates the Discovery system.

The partnership also completed the third and final phase of its pipeline integrity and system enhancement project on its Douglas gathering system in Wyoming. Volumes were curtailed in the second quarter of 2008 following pipeline integrity testing (see Daily GPI, Jan. 7). The system upgrade was conducted to ensure pipeline integrity, improve system reliability and reduce operating costs. The Douglas system gathers approximately 20-25 MMcf/d from wells in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin.
