Southern Natural Gas is implementing an OFO Type 6 for short imbalances effective with the start of Wednesday’s gas day until further notice. Tiered imbalance penalties of up to $15/Dth will apply to negative imbalances exceeding 2% or 200 dekatherms, whichever is greater. The pipeline expects to keep the OFO in place through at least Friday.

Tennessee lifted Tuesday a force majeure that had been declared Feb. 6 at its Colden storage field in Erie County, NY (see Daily GPI, Feb. 7).

After warning earlier in the day that it might be necessary to issue a customer-specific Balancing Alert OFO to “certain shippers” who continued to maintain large due-pipe imbalances if they didn’t take immediate action to reduce the imbalances, East Tennessee Natural Gas went ahead and did just that Tuesday afternoon. The OFO takes effect Wednesday until further notice. Penalties will apply to those exceeding a daily tolerance of 50 dekatherms or 2% of scheduled volumes, whichever is greater, East Tennessee said.

NOVA, which restored its imbalance tolerances to the normal -4/+4 Friday, changed the range to 0/+4 Tuesday to encourage packing of its system and discourage drafting.

Due to an unscheduled outage of the Shattuc turbine on its East Line, MRT reduced total available East Line capacity to 230,000 Dth/d Tuesday until further notice. However, barring significantly increased shipper nominations, service interruptions likely will not occur, MRT said.

Gulf South began unscheduled maintenance Monday on Unit #1 at Arnaudville (LA) Compressor Station until further notice. This work could reduce capacity from Marksville to Bayou Sale Junction by as much as 150 MMcf/d, Gulf South said.

Questar rescheduled maintenance at Oak Spring Station, which had been set for Tuesday through Friday this week, to Feb. 20-23. ML 104 capacity will be reduced to 320,000 Dth/d beginning with Cycle 1 nominations for the Feb. 20 gas day, and will return to normal (385,000 Dth/d) in the Feb. 24 Cycle 1. Based on Feb. 8 nominations, these cuts represent a 10% reduction to tier 1 (nonsegmented P2P) nominations, Questar said, adding, “As nominations are realigned it is possible that other Southern System scheduling points may need to be utilized.”
