Florida Gas Transmission allowed an Overage Alert Day that began last Friday to lapse Tuesday.

Transco reported that during an ongoing anomaly investigation, it discovered a problem on a line downstream of the Linden (NJ) Regulator Station that required it to lower maximum operating pressure in the area on Jan. 24 to ensure safe operations consistent with Department of Transportation guidelines. The reduction in pressure caused Transco to cut the availability of interruptible services to markets downstream of Linden so it could continue to meet firm obligations, it said. In order to make permanent repairs to the affected pipe, Transco said, it must further reduce operating pressures for about 24 hours, but it does not plan to undertake the repairs as long as temperatures are forecasted to be near or below normal. “Current weather forecasts indicate no moderation in northeastern temperatures” over the next seven to 10 days, Transco said. Unless there are “significant changes” to this forecast, the pipeline will post an update on the anticipated anomaly repair Feb. 5.

Columbia Gulf said late Monday it had isolated a leak on the Bluewater 200 Loop Line on the Western Shore Line between Vermilion 245 and Pecan Island. The leak has been isolated. It estimated that repairs may be completed within seven to 10 days; meanwhile, the Vermilion 86, 54 and 45/57 meters should remain shut in (see Daily GPI, Jan. 22) until the repairs are complete.

Due to an adjusted maintenance schedule, an outage of Watkins Compressor Station plant will begin Friday, CIG said. At that time gas flow will be switched from Watkins to a nearby interconnect with the BP-operated Box Elder Residue plant. Shippers receiving gas from the Watkins Plant should switch to Box Elder Residue beginning Friday until completion of the project because nominations at Watkins will be taken to zero during the work, CIG said.
