Williams’ Northwest Pipeline is holding an open season to test market interest in a new 38-mile, 30-inch diameter pipeline lateral that would tap production in the Piceance Basin in western Colorado. The lateral would provide up to 575,000 Dth/d of new firm transportation capacity for gas production in the Parachute, CO, area.

The new pipeline would extend from Parachute to the Greasewood Hub in Rio Blanco County, CO, where several other pipelines interconnect, including TransColorado Gas Transmission, Wyoming Interstate Co. and Questar Pipeline.

“With the tremendous growth in Rockies gas production, there is a need for additional pipeline capacity to bring new supplies to the Greasewood Hub,” said Phil Wright, senior vice president of Williams’ natural gas pipeline business. “The Parachute lateral initially would interconnect with one or more pipelines at the hub.”

Piceance Basin gas production growth is behind multiple pipeline projects being planned in the Rockies, including EnCana’s proposed Entrega Gas Pipeline, which would extend from Western Colorado to the Cheyenne Hub (see Daily GPI, Oct. 19).
