Commercial operation began at two CMS Energy gas-firedgenerating plants in Michigan, adding 199 MW of capacity to thestate’s power grid for use this summer. The units, owned by CMSEnergy’s independent power unit, CMS Generation Co., will helpassure electric system reliability during peak demand periods.

CMS Generation completed construction of a four-unit, 136 MWcombustion turbine station just west of Gaylord in Otsego County’sLivingston Township and a single 63 MW combustion turbine stationin Kalamazoo County’s Comstock Township.

“These new generating units represent an immediate response toMichigan’s growing need for in-state power generation during timesof peak demand,” said Rodney E. Boulanger, CMS Generation CEO.”They will be supplemented by the 160 MW first phase of the newelectric generating plant we are also adding at the Ford Rouge sitein Dearborn, which is scheduled to begin generating electricitythis July.”
