The Pennsylvania state senate will pass senate bill 601, (SB601), the gas deregulation bill for small commercial andresidential customers, on June 7, said a spokesman for Sen. JeffPiccola’s office. Piccola is the bill’s main sponsor in the statesenate.

“It’s at the final stage right now,” said Mike Sarfert, aPiccola aid. “It is up for its third consideration right now, andwhen the senate gets back in session on June 7, I think it shouldpass.”

The bill was reported out of the Appropriations committeeearlier this week and it received its second consideration, Sarfertsaid. The bill was in the process of receiving its third and finalconsideration when the session broke. A bill needs threeconsiderations before going to a vote, Sarfert explained.

“The only reason it did not receive its third consideration wasbecause of another issue unrelated to bill’s content,” Sarfertsaid.
