Looking to test interest in a storage expansion at its Midland, KY storage field, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP said last week that its subsidiary, Texas Gas Transmission LLC., will hold a non-binding open season for firm storage service (FSS) and no-notice service (NNS).
On Nov. 1, Texas Gas placed in service an 8.2 TBtu storage expansion at its Midland field. However, that expansion might not be enough to meet demand, the company said. Texas Gas Commercial Services Vice President Kathy Kirk said customers continue to show an interest in additional market-area storage capacity.
"Market-area storage is attractive to the marketplace and we believe our Kentucky storage fields can be expanded to meet some of the growing demand for storage services," Kirk said.
Under its proposal, Texas Gas is looking to drill additional wells and install compression to provide up to 90,000 Dth/d of daily deliverability and up to 6.75 TBtu of seasonal capacity. The company expects the in-service date for this expansion project to be Nov. 1, 2007.
The open season for NNS and FSS began Tuesday and ends at 5 p.m. CST on Dec. 16.
Boardwalk Pipeline Partners is a master limited partnership engaged through its subsidiaries, Texas Gas Transmission LLC and Gulf South Pipeline Company LP, in the interstate transportation and storage of natural gas.
