Enterprise Products Partners said repairs were expected to be completed to its hurricane-damaged Toca natural gas processing plant in Chalmette, LA, and the entire facility back in operation by this week.

The Toca facility, which includes two processing trains, was shut down following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which ravaged the Gulf Coast energy infrastructure in late August and September.

The older Toca 1 processing train, which has processing capacity of 280 MMcf/d, was restored to operation on Oct. 23, Burkhalter said. Enterprise expects to have the Toca 2 processing train back in operation this week if all goes well.

The two facilities combined are expected to have a post-storm capability of 600 MMcf/d, said spokesman Randy Burkhalter. The total capacity of the Toca plant is 1.1 Bcf/d. Pipelines served by the plant include Southern Natural Gas, Viosca Knoll Gathering System and Mississippi Canyon Gas Pipeline.

The Toca plant removes natural gas liquids from gas produced offshore Louisiana in order to meet pipeline specifications.

Houston-based Enterprise Products has a 60% interest in the Toca plant and is its operator. It owns interests in 11 processing plants along the Gulf Coast, three of which — Toca, Yscloskey and Venice — were damaged by flood waters.
