Susan Diohas been appointed chair and president of BP America Inc., the chief representative for BP plc in the United States, effective May 1. Dio succeeds John Mingé, who has headed the arm since 2013. Dio will be chairing the “largest portfolio of businesses we have anywhere in the world,” said CEO Bob Dudley. A chemical engineer by training, Dio has been CEO of BP Shipping for three years. In her 33-year career with BP and heritage companies, she held a series of senior commercial and operating roles. Mingé, who is retiring at the end of March, plans to chair a study by the National Petroleum Council into carbon capture, utilization and storage that is directed by Energy Secretary Rick Perry. The study will consider technologies, the factors and policies required for their successful deployment, and possible pathways for integrating it at scale, particularly in the petroleum industry.
