Cheniere Energy Inc. asked FERC for permission to install a third feed gas pipeline meter facility at its Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Louisiana.
In a letter filed Wednesday, Houston-based Cheniere said the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's 2013 authorization for Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC and Sabine Pass LNG LP to build and operate the Sabine Pass Liquefaction Project Modification had authorized construction of four feed gas pipeline meter interconnects [CP13-2]. The facility is located in Cameron Parish, LA.
Cheniere requested authorization to "install the third feed gas meter interconnect with filtration and liquids separation, pressure regulation and measurement equipment at the earliest date possible," but no later than Jan. 15, in order to remain on schedule.
Last week, India's minister for oil and natural gas said a state-owned gas utility, Gail (India) Ltd., has been trying to renegotiate separate contracts with Cheniere and Dominion for importing LNG. Gail Global (USA) LNG LLC, a U.S. affiliate, signed 20-year service agreements with Cheniere Energy Partners LP in 2011.
An analysis conducted by NGI in late November found that the United States was exporting about 3 Bcf/d of LNG, but that number is expected to grow by more than 1 Bcf/d over the next year, as the fourth train at Sabine Pass, along with Dominion's Cove Point LNG and Kinder Morgan Inc.'s Elba Island LNG facilities enter service.
