Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America LLC (NGPL) is holding a nonbinding solicitation of interest for its Waha Deliverability Expansion Project (WADEP), which would facilitate additional exports of U.S. natural gas to Mexico from the Northeast and Midcontinent via the Waha Hub.

The project is in response to a Sept. 21 request for offers from Mexico’s Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE International LLC), Kinder Morgan Inc.’s NGPL said in a customer notice on the pipeline’s bulletin board.

Total deliverability of the project is expected to be as high as 465,000 Dth/d pursuant to a proposed interconnect on NGPL’s Lockridge Lateral in Segment 9. The path of WADEP can include up to 100,000 Dth/d of service from existing interconnects on NGPL in Illinois (including Rockies Express Pipeline (REX)-Moultrie, and Alliance Pipeline). It can also include the remaining volume, up to a total of 465,000 Dth/d, from interconnects on NGPL’s Amarillo Line (including Northern Border Pipeline, REX-Jefferson, Trailblazer, Cheyenne Plains, and Colorado Interstate Gas).

NGI recently sat down with Centro Nacional de Control del Gas Natural (Cenagas) Director General David Madero for an exclusive look at how Mexico plans to develop the infrastructure necessary to expand the country’s natural gas market. The expected in-service date is during the second quarter of 2019, assuming the need for a filing at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which would be determined by the amount of capacity subscribed and the facility modifications necessary, NGPL said.
