FERC staff said it will prepare an environmental assessment (EA) for Texas Gas Transmission LLC’s proposed Northern Supply Access Project, which would provide an additional 384 Bcf/d of north-to-south transportation on the company’s system while maintaining bidirectional flow capability.

The project [CP15-513] would involve modifications at eight existing compressor stations along the company’s existing pipeline and one new compressor station. Modifications would be made to compressor stations in Lawrence and Dearborn counties in Indiana, Webster, Breckinridge and Jefferson counties in Kentucky, Tipton County in Tennessee, Coahoma County in Mississippi and Morehouse Parish in Louisiana. A new 23,877 hp compressor station would be built in Hamilton County, OH.

In its application for the project earlier this year, Texas Gas told the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission modification of its system would allow it to meet demand to transport gas produced in the Marcellus/Utica region to midwestern and southern markets. EdgeMarc Energy Holdings, Indiana Gas Co., Jay-Bee Production Co., R.E. Gas Development, Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Co., Triad Hunter, Gulfport Energy Corp. and Kaiser Marketing Ohio have executed precedent agreements for firm transportation, according to Texas Gas.

FERC will accept public comments on the project until Oct. 5.

Late last month, FERC approved the Boardwalk Pipeline Partners affiliate’s Ohio-Louisiana Access Project, which would create capacity for Marcellus/Utica shale gas from Lebanon, OH, to Midwestern and southern markets through the addition of north-to-south capability (see Shale Daily, Sept. 1).

Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC is that project’s foundation shipper with 300,000 MMBtu/d of capacity (see Daily GPI, Oct. 10, 2014).
