Rockies Express Pipeline LLC (REX) plans for the remainder of its Zone 3 East-to-West Project facilities to be in service by Aug. 31, the pipeline told FERC in a filing.

REX asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for clearance to place into service:

The work of REX to bring these points online is done; however, whether the downstream pipelines are ready is another matter.

“Just because our side is in service, it doesn’t necessarily mean the points are going to miraculously increase overnight…” Tallgrass Energy Vice President and REX President Matt Sheehy told NGI on Wednesday.

Oneok (Midwestern) and Energy Transfer Partners (Trunkline) did not immediately respond to an inquiry about the status of the interconnects.

Last year, REX operator Tallgrass Energy Partners LP told federal regulators in support of the REX East-to-West project “…the gas markets have changed fundamentally, and the pipeline’s eastern terminus in Ohio is now at the center of a large and growing production basin [see Shale Daily, June 24, 2014].”

The East-to-West project began ramping up service at the beginning of August (see Daily GPI, July 28).

According to NGI‘s Rockies Express Zone 3 Tracker, Zone 3 capacity utilization was at 76.7% on Wednesday. Total operational capacity for Wednesday flow was 1,477.7 Dth, with total receipts at 1,133.3 Dth.
