The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), under continuing criticism for its oversight of energy utility safety programs, named Elizaveta Malashenko director of its Safety and Enforcement Division, effective immediately. For the past two years, Malashenko has served as one of the division’s deputy directors and is credited with helping achieve significant improvements in its enforcement program performance. Interim CPUC Executive Director Timothy Sullivan said Malashenko has extensive executive management consulting experience withIBM Corp., where she led business transformation and strategy initiatives at some of the largest U.S. energy and utility companies, including Duke Energy, Pepco, NiSource and utilities in California.
