Paul Clanon, executive director of the California Utilities Commission (CPUC), is retiring after 30 years with the state. Timothy Sullivan, acting chief administrative law judge, has been named interim executive director, the CPUC said. Sullivan, who has worked for 26 years at the CPUC in various capacities, holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Yale University and master’s and doctorate degrees in public policy from Harvard. CPUC President Michael Peevey recently said he won’t seek another term after his expires at the end of the year (see Daily GPI, Oct. 9).
