Ingleside Ethylene LLC— a joint venture of Occidental Chemical Corp. (OxyChem) and Mexichem S.A.B. de C.V. (see Shale Daily, Nov. 1, 2013) — said construction of its ethylene cracker at OxyChem’s Ingleside, TX, complex, which began in 2Q2014, is on schedule for completion during the first quarter of 2017. When completed the facility would have capacity to produce 1.2 billion pounds of ethylene per year. Total investment in the project is expected to be $1.5 billion. “The ethylene cracker is a significant project for both OxyChem and Mexichem, enabling us to capitalize on the advantages that shale gas development present for the chemical industry,” said OxyChem President Robert Peterson. OxyChem is a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum Corp.
