Southwestern Energy Co. COO Bill Way has been promoted to president. Way was hired as COO in September 2011 and would continue also in that role. “Since joining the Southwestern team, Bill’s dedication and leadership have been key in consistently delivering results for the company and creating value for shareholders,” CEO Steve Mueller said. Way previously worked for BG Group plc and ConocoPhillips. He holds a bachelors degree in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University and a masters degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mike Tanchuk, who is currently working with Summit Natural Gas of Maine in an advisory role, has been named president of the company and executive vice president of Summit Utilities Inc. effective Jan. 1. Current Summit president Mike Minkos is retiring at the end of 2014. Tanchuk was previously CEO and a member of the board of directors at Ormet Corp., a producer of aluminum and related products and services, was responsible for operation and expansion at Century Aluminum, and was president of Alcoa/Reynolds Metals Co. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University and completed the Executive Business Program at the University of Washington.
